About the artist

A native of China, violinist Fei Tong, has appeared as a soloist with Harbin Symphony Orchestra (China), the UGA Symphony Orchestra, and was featured in the International Musica Mundi Festival in Belgium. Her premiered performance of “The Road” was featured in the Chinese-Korean new music concert in 2011. She was invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China to perform for John Kerry, the Secretary of State on his China visit in 2015.

As a chamber and orchestral musician, Fei collaborated with distinguished musicians such as David Holland, Alicia Valoti, Ji Hyun Kim and James Fiste. She was the concertmaster of the China Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, the Central Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, and serves as the concertmaster of the UGA Symphony Orchestra now.

As a prize winner, Fei was named the Michigan Winner at the MTNA Young Artist String Competition 2017. She won the Audience Favorite Prize at the White Lake Young Artist Solo Competition, as well as top prizes at a number of international competitions.

Fei went to the USA in 2015 to pursue music study at the Central Michigan University, where she earned her Master of Music degree under Dr. Fangye Sun. Fei is currently a first year DMA student at the University of Georgia, where she studies with Prof. Levon Ambartsumian.
