18-year-old pianist from Poland performs Chopin – Mazurkas Op. 7 No.1 and No. 2.
About the artist
Katarzyna Gabryś was born on March 5, 2000 in Cracow. Currently she is studying in Zespół Państwowych Szkół Muzycznych im. Mieczysława Karłowicza in Cracow in piano class of Izabela Grzybek.
Katarzyna has participated and become a prize winner of many piano competitions including the 5th International Young Pianists Competition in Skarżysko Kamienna in Poland; the Piano Competition Irena Rolanowska in Cracow, Poland; the Concorso Internazionale de Esecuzione Musicale “Giovani Musicisti” in Treviso, Italy; the International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Broumov, Czech Republic; the Ferenczy György Piano Competition in Budapest, Hungary, among others.
She has participated in many courses and masterclasses in Poland and abroad. She has worked with such well-known pianists as Andrzej Jasiński, Andrzej Pikul, Zbigniew Raubo, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Andrzej Tatarski, Mirosław Herbowski, Akiko Ebi and Takashi Yamamoto.
Katarzyna has played concerts in the Concert Hall at the Royal Castle in Warsaw; in the Ballroom of the Palace of the Academy of Music in Łódź; at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center in Lusławice, as well as in Vienna, Duszniki Zdrój, Wieliczka, and Goerlitz.
She is a member of Orchestra “Krakowska Młoda Filharmonia” with which she has played in Cracow Philharmonic, Congress Center ICE in Cracow, and National Theatre in Warsaw. She is also a scholarship holder of the Scholarship of the city Wieliczka “John Paul II”; National Children’s Foundation in Poland; CEA scholarship; Sapere Auso scholarship and Prime Minister scholarship for outstanding achievements for 2016/2017.
In the future, Katarzyna would like to become a famous pianist and travel around the world, so she spends a lot of time learning foreign languages – English and Italian.
