31-year-old bouzouki player from Greece performs Michael Paouris – The Waltz of the Loneliness.
About the artist
Born in Tavros, a suburb of Athens, Greece, Michael Paouris began learning the bouzouki when he was 8. He already began playing professionally at the age of 12. He’s participated in competitions of technique and interpretation and has won the first prizes at Pan-Hellenic Rewards.
His teacher Manolis Michalakis, broadened his musical horizons, teaching him moral lessons, the essential love for music, the way that the natural development comes to the instrument and the essential development of spirit through music as well.
While still in his teens he has performed M. Theodorakis’ pieces with a symphony orchestra in the Megaron The Athens Concert Hall; collaborated with composer G. Katsaros and Th. Polykandriotis in a number of concerts. The very special moment for Michael was to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004.
Michael has performed with such musicians as Al Di Meola, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, The Rosenberg Trio, Fide Koksal, Gumbi Ortiz, Franck Wolf, including Greek artists Vaggelis Katsarelis, Mimis Plessas, Panos Mouzourakis, Eleni Dimou, Petroloukas Chalkias and Stefanos Korkolis. He has released four CDs and a book, and has been featured in the documentary “Greece, an economic Odyssey” filmed for CNBC Africa.
