About the artist

Xinyi Hou, the young Chinese singer born in 1998, was admitted to the Vocal Music and Opera Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2016 under the instruction of professor Xing Chen. She has won the school merit scholarship and honors for excellent student for many times.

Her public appearances include Concert for the 90th Anniversary of SHCM, the opening concert of Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, Concert for Zaiyi Lu’s Works, the “Pure & Honest” Power Concert for the 90th Anniversary of SHCM and the celebration series such as song performances and Shanghai Spring Open Week Vocal Music and Opera Department special performance, SHCM Excellent Student Talent Assistance Program “Heartwarming Music” public concert series, and “CARMINA BURANA” concert specially produced for the closing ceremony of the 2017-2018 season of Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra.

She also played a role in SHCM’s original opera “Tang XianZu” in the tour at Melbourne Opera House and Sydney Opera House. In collaboration with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and conductor Lan Shui, she led the soprano in the concerts “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Op.61”.

Her competition awards include Second Place in the undergraduate group of 2018 Tokyo International Vocal Music Competition and First prize of 2019 Hong Kong International Vocal Open Shanghai.
